Throughout the season of Lent, we will be looking inward and upward. We will look inward as we examine our hearts and invite God to search us, and upward as we intentionally draw closer to Him. Together, we will learn about andpractice spiritual disciplines, applying them to our daily lives and allowing God access to our innermost being so that He may transform us to be more like Jesus.
This year we will focus on the spiritual disciplines of prayer, Scripture, fasting, confession and repentance, journaling, and silence and solitude. These are just a few of the many practices that draw us closer to God. My prayer is that as you engage in these disciplines, you will grow ever closer to Him. What a blessing it is that these means of grace are available to us!
After we have prepared our hearts by looking inward and upward, we will gather on April 5th to celebrate Easter and the resurrected Christ and the hope He offers us. As Scripture reminds us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus died for us so that we might be forgiven and receive the gift of eternal life. Now that is something to celebrate and be grateful for! I pray that you will join us for our Easter services as we come together as a church family to celebrate our risen Savior.
In Service together to Him,
Pastor JoAnn
