RECAP – COFFEE WITH THE PASTOR – July 16, 2021

As of mid-July, Door County is once again in full swing.  People visiting, talking together, and going places.  It is wonderful to see activity again.  Here at the church, we have reinstated Café Joy with a good cup of coffee and refreshments.  Our doors are open at 9:00 AM for fellowship with services beginning at 10:00 AM.  We do have some important announcements this week:

  • Our Custodian, Lori Moe and family, will be leaving the area.  We are very sorry to see her go, and we all wish them well.  We are looking to fill the position, however, before we post an ad we would like to let our church members know in the event there is interest.  This is a part time position.  Please contact the church office if you would like more information.

  • Vacation Bible School is fast approaching beginning August 16 – 19 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.  A kid friendly dinner will be served along with an exciting program. Sunday School starting this fall on the first Sunday after Labor Day at 9:00 AM.  Volunteers are needed.  If you have an would like to help out with either of these programs, please contact the church office if you are interested and need additional information.  We want to provide Angel as much help as possible in support of our youths.

  • An adult Bible Study is planned to begin in October after Jacksonport completes their Summer Worship Services at 9:00 AM on Sunday Mornings.  The series is called “Believe” from the same folks that did the “Story” series. This series deals with our faith as revealed to us by Christ and affirmed by the Apostles.  The study guide will be available by the end of August early September. We will be providing more information on this in terms of ordering the guide or if interested, associated books.

  • If you are interested in entering into a discussion on how we want to handle having pets in our church.  We would like to put together a policy that addresses this topic.  If you are interested in participating in these discussions please contact Dan Barnard at  daniel.barnard@healthyridgefarm.com  or the church office and we will let Dan know that you are interested.

A reminder that Jacksonport has worship services at 8:30 AM outdoors on a nice day or indoors if needed.  It’s a beautiful place to worship during the summer in the fresh air with the cool breeze off the lake.

We missed being together during the pandemic and it is wonderful to be together again.  It is not over yet but it is under control.  We are fortunate in Door County as a large percentage of our citizens are vaccinated so we are doing well.  If you have not yet been vaccinated we recommend that you do wear a mask when attending groups indoors.  We still practice social distancing here, but we will continue to watch the trends and modify our procedures accordingly.  We will always practice “Do No Harm” here at Sturgeon Bay & Jacksonport UMC.  Until next time, God Bless.

DAILY PRAYER

Mighty and Holy God, I know all things are possible through you. I ask that you show we the people of Sturgeon Bay and Jacksonport United Methodist Churches the way to flourish in our lives as disciples of your Son Jesus, and to be fruitful in your mission for us. Amen.
