RECAP OF COFFEE WITH THE PASTOR – Wednesday, February 2, 2022
Coffee With the Pastor has been a conversation that Pastor Dave has had for several years, however since the beginning of the pandemic the recap of his recorded message been sent via mail. For the past 15 years “Coffee With the Pastor” was a conversation that was held in a local café to share coffee and breakfast with those who are interested in attending. Pastor Dave comments that he misses that interaction very much and hopes to return to this in person visit again in mid-March. He will keep us posted on upcoming fellowship and breakfast together.
As covid continues to work its way through the population, the number of the cases are starting to decrease. If we can get it down to a reasonable number of cases we can get back to our regular programing here at the church. He is hoping to bring back Café Joy on the first Sunday in March. Additionally, Pastor Dave wants to schedule the forums he has previously mentioned at 9:00 AM Sunday before worship. The first forum he hopes to schedule on March 13th will be about what is going on in the United Methodist Church as far as the divisions that have been overtaking the church these past years and a discussion of what was agreed to in factions within the church. He does want to stress again it doesn’t matter what your position is on these issues. He welcomes all opinions and wants us to be respectful of each other’s positions. Pastor Dave will be careful to moderate this so there is no judgement of anyone and their views.
The second forum will be scheduled, hopefully the last Sunday in March or early April, to discuss on what has been called by some “The Great Unraveling”. This has to do with a whole lot more than just the Christian church and extends into many other topics. Pastor Dave plans to do a third forum shortly after this one. It will be on his area of study right now, how can we help congregations live fruitful lives that are flourishing with each other and with our God.
We are still in need of a head Trustee so if there is anyone in our congregation that would like to step forward, we would love to hear from you. You do not need to be a fixit person just be well organized and able to make contracts with vendors to support the repairs and workings of the facility. Pastor Dave will be willing to assist anyone interested in getting started or answering questions. Please contact Pastor Dave directly if you are interested in this appointment.
That’s where we are right now. We are still requesting mask wearing during services. We are hoping by March we can move to strongly recommend that masks are worn. Please continue to pray for our nation and our world. There are so many things going on right now with the massing of forces around the globe. May we follow Jesus’ example and treat each other with respect and contend with the log in our own eye before we see the failure in others. We are to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. If only people could adopt that teaching think of our world and the peace we would have.
Pastor Dave wishes you God’s blessings.
