RECAP COFFEE WITH THE PASTOR Wednesday April 20, 2022 – Full Broadcast Posted on Facebook
Pastor Dave comments on how nice it was to see so many of you at the Café on 3rd Ave for the in person Coffee With the Pastor today. He will continue to post these broadcasts on Facebook for those who are unable to attend.
Here at the Church, we had a great Easter Day and Pastor Dave thanks everyone who worked hard to make such a wonderful breakfast and worship service. There is currently not a lot going on except our Regular 10:00 AM Sunday Worship Service, Sunday School, and Café Joy. Jacksonport will resume their Spring/Summer worship on May 15th 8:45 to 9:30. Eventually we hope to return to an early service at Sturgeon Bay as well.
We are very much in need of assistance with leadership here at Sturgeon Bay UMC. We are very happy to announce that we have a new Lay Leader, Sheryl Kobishop and a new Trustee, Jerry Kobishop. Please come forward if you would like to serve in a leadership capacity here at the church.
We also need volunteers to be Sunday School teachers as we develop our Sunday School program further and make it a welcoming place for our youth. We will assist with training and provide everything you need. Vacation Bible School will be coming up in August, so volunteers are needed there as well. Please see Angel Roig or Pastor Dave if you are interested.
Another volunteer opportunity is we are looking to put together a team for our Apple Bazaar this October. We are hoping to make this a successful event as it always has been in the past, so we need to get started soon. Pastor Dave will be part of the planning committee.
We are also looking for a someone to work in the nursery from 9:00 AM to 11:30 on Sunday Mornings. This is a compensated position so if you or someone you know might be interested, please contact Pastor Dave as we would like to get the nursery back up and running as soon as possible. We want to attract families and offering a nursery will certainly assist.
Pastor Dave wants to speak about the program he is working on. He has been researching Clergy and Clergy image through their career to retirement. There is often confusion with expectations of the responsibilities the pastor. There are different classifications of pastors depending on education and experience. There are three types of pastors.
- The Chaplin pastor who’s focus is on church members and their lives.
- The Program Style Pastor is similar to Pastor Dave’s methods. Their focus is on developing and implementing education and worship programs. They are administrative in nature in overseeing the facility and strategic planning of the church. They also meet the needs of pastoral care but on a request basis.
- The Teaching Office Pastor is a pastor helps and teach people to grow in discipleship. They also provide training and guidance to the church leaders in developing small groups within the church.
If you have any questions on this topic, please email Pastor Dave for discussion. Until next time, Pastor Dave wishes you blessings.
