Hurricane Harvey has caused devastation in Texas and Louisiana.  This weekend Hurricane Irma will likely hit Florida and affect several states in the South East. UMCOR (United Methodist Church on Relief) is an organization through  which we can help those in need.  It has an A+ rating from “Charity Watch”.  Every dollar you donate will go directly to that relief.  Overhead expenses  have already been paid for.  It is part of what each Methodist Church pays in its’ apportionment. You can go to a video about how UMCOR is helping in this US Natural Disaster. You can also go to UMCOR.org to directly donate.  We would also encourage you to pray for the people involved in these disasters and those who are responding.

Another way to help is to donate to the Midwest Mission Distribution Center located in Chatham, Il.  This center puts together cleaning buckets and Personal Dignity Kits. These buckets and kits are then shipped to disaster areas to be used in the cleanup.  Each year members of our congregation travel to MMDC to assist in putting together supplies. There is a shortage of supplies now because of Hurricane Harvey.  If you would like to help them purchase supplies click on MMDC.  Thank you.
