Good Morning,
Hope all of you are enjoying this beautiful fall weather. I would like to include an announcement that just came in through our Email from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bailey’s Harbor regarding their Curbside Brat Fry and Bake Sale on Saturday, October 9th from 10 AM to 3:00 PM.
Please see the recap of Coffee With the Pastor along with our most recent Prayer List. Please contact the church office if we can pray for you, a loved one, or if you have good news to share regarding God’s good work and healing in our lives. Please take care everyone and be well.

RECAP OF COFFEE WITH THE PASTOR September 29, 2021
Pastor Dave comments on the fall weather with all its beauty and preparations for the winter to come. This time of year, as we start getting ready for the seasons in our home so are we here in the church. We are seeing significant changes in the churches across the country as well as our own in leadership and volunteerism. There is a winter situation that we will have to go through which means we have to adapt to what lies ahead. We do need leadership here in the church so if you are interested, please call Pastor Dave to discuss these opportunities.
Pastor Dave also comments on his disappointment on our Sunday School Enrollment. Last year we had about 20 students and this year we only have 2 children so far. It is important to children to hear how much God loves them and to lead them into discipleship. We will continue our Sunday School program with hopes to see attendance grow.
An update regarding the program that Pastor Dave is involved in with the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. He is a member of the board from the State of Wisconsin representing the Methodists. The concept is to help clergy and our Christian community to flourish in the faith during these difficult times. About a third of the way through the three year program, Pastor Dave will begin working on his doctoral dissertation on Coaching Clergy with a focus on those who are in the last 10 to 5 years of their career and how to transition into retirement. We have a CRT, Church Response Team, to discuss the program and how it is going in our church. Pastor Dave will keep us updated as we go along.
In regard to our church life here at SBUMC…. We will be holding our Octogenarian Luncheon on Tuesday, October 21, 2021. The lunch will begin at 11:30 AM with lunch and a musical program in the fellowship hall. If you are 80 years old or older, please contact the church office to make your reservations.
On October 17th the “Believe” Bible Study begins at 9:00 AM each Sunday before Worship Service. Study guides are available in the church office for purchase. Please complete a registration sheet outside the church office if interested.
We are looking forward to our fall and holiday programs. We will be having Christmas Eve services here and in Jacksonport. More information regarding special services will be sent in the newsletters and bulletins. An important part of our worship is singing our hymns together, however we do recommend that masks be worn. We do have alternate worship spaces in the Lounge and the Fellowship Hall if you have concerns of singing in the main sanctuary. If you are still unsure about joining us here at the church, please join us on our virtual sites. Those are posted for you in the weekly Order of Worship sent to you each Friday.
Please let the office know if you are not receiving emails or newsletters from the church office or know of anyone who is not receiving them. Pastor Dave wants to know he is praying for all of you and may God Bless You.
Pastor Dave
