Pastor Dave reminds us that today is Ash Wednesday which is the first day of the Lent season which 40 days long leading up to and ending at Easter.   He is hoping everyone will use this time of Lent for contemplation on some aspect of the Lord’s life, reading the lord’s word, or perhaps add extra prayer times during your day.  Jesus prayed in the morning, during the day, and in the evening.  Another suggestion is to use the Lord’s prayer and as you pray.  Take a moment to reflect on one part of the prayer each time and what it means to you.  Do this repeatedly then go back to it to let the words set with you for a time and see where it takes you.   Incorporating this discipline during the season of Lent may encourage new habits that you will want to carry on after Lent.  Some choose denial to honor the sacrifice that Jesus made for is.  There are many ways to honor and grow closer to our Lord during this time so do whatever works best for you.

There is an Ash Wednesday Service posted for you on the Website, YouTube and Facebook (account instructions below) that can also enhance your season of Lent.  The purpose of Lent is to gain in self-awareness and be more aware of who we are before God.  To see ourselves honestly as God sees us and to gain an understanding of how responsible we are that Christ gave his life for our sins.

We will be doing a new bible study during Lent beginning on February 24th at 6:30 PM.  If you have not already done so we would be happy to order a book for you,” The God We Can Know”. The discussion questions we will be using will be right from the book.  If your book has not arrived yet, do not worry, we will copy the text from the book for you for the first week until your book arrives.

If you want to be a part of the study you must let us know ASAP as we need your email address so we can add you to the meeting group.  You will receive an email about 6:00 PM the night of the class with the invitation and access codes from Pastor Dave.  The goal of this study Is for us to know God better by hearing what Jesus says about himself.  We want to understand what the ‘I AM” statements mean to us during our times today.

We hope that you will join us on one of our virtual communication methods to stay in touch and in worship.  We would love to hear from you to let us know how you are doing.  There should be someone in the church office Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings if you need to speak with someone in person.  If not send us an email or leave us a message.  We will get back to you.

Good news…..COVID cases are declining!   We will keep an eye on things in relation to our Sturgeon Bay and Jacksonport (outdoor) in person services and keep you posted.  We do currently have Sunday School every Sunday morning here at the church.  If you have not enrolled your child and wish do do so please contact the church office.

Pastor Dave wishes you all a blessed day and a wonderful Lent.
